Limited-edition collectible coins are a real investment.
CONTRADICTED3 June 2026
The evidence
A collection sold as 'investment pieces' came back worth roughly £40 at resale — certificates and all
We took a collection bought as investments — gold-layered coronation coins, a platinum Bank of England note, official Team GB pieces, every certificate of authenticity intact — and tried to sell it. The mint's own valuation and live eBay listings put the lot at roughly £40. 'Limited edition collectible investment' is what the marketing said. The resale market disagreed.
